  MITE Sponsored by NASA - Glenn Research Center

The Minority Introduction to Engineering (MITE) program taking place at the Tennessee State University is being sponsored by the Cleveland NASA-Glenn Research Center. This is an intensive two-week program opened to all minority and female students interested in mathematics, science, and engineering.

Activities include scheduled classes, interactions with engineer professionals, and hands-on experience. Sessions will be held in June and July.

  Feature: Autodesk Products used in Popular Video Games and Movies

Autodesk popular graphic creation tools was used in the development of video games that include Guitar Hero II, Viva Piñata, as well as the movie tie in, Happy Feet.

Harmonix's used Autodesk® 3ds Max® software to develop the popular music game Guitar Hero II for PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. Rare's Viva Piñata, a family oriented game that allows players to grow a garden to attract piñata animals was developed with Autodesk® Maya®.

Montreal-based A2M also used Maya to develop Happy Feet, the video game based on the Warner Bros. Pictures' feature film. This game is now available for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DX, GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation 2.

"Through their highly creative use of gaming hardware and Autodesk's 3D software, Harmonix, Rare and A2M have invented novel ways to appeal to our fantasies," said Marc Petit, Autodesk's Media & Entertainment vice-president.
